Involve Yorkshire & Humber staff January 2012

Emma Easton

Regions Health Project Manager

I manage the Stronger Connections for Better Health project which links all nine regional networks in England, including Involve Yorkshire and Humber. (I job share with Jo Whaley).  Together as Regional Voices, the networks are one of 18 Strategic Partners to the Department of Health , helping to disseminate information about health policy and taking any current issues affecting the voluntary and community sector around health or social care back to the Department of Health.

I work closely with Ruth, who coordinates the project within Yorkshire and Humber. My daily work involves liaising with colleagues in each of the regional networks and connecting their work with national policy-making in the Department of Health.

I started working on the Stronger Connections project in July 2009. Through the project I have become a member of the NHS Equality and Diversity Council, and led on work around health inequalities and on the health White Paper, Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS.

Following a degree in Sports Medicine, my career has included working in exercise referral for Glasgow City Council, health promotion for DeafBlind Scotland, and managing a Sport England Lottery Funded project, the Inclusive Fitness Initiative

I have two young children and enjoy spending time with my family outside of work.
