New asset for Doncaster CVS in shape of GrowthAccelerator Coach

Tony Appleton, Lead Enterprise Advisor, at Doncaster CVS has qualified as a GrowthAccelerator Coach and is set to help even more of Doncaster’s social enterprises grow.

A Government-led initiative, GrowthAccelerator is a unique service led by some of the UK’s most successful growth specialists. It provides businesses with new connections, new routes to investment and the ideas and strategy they need to achieve their full potential.

Explains Tony: “We already work with lots of social enterprises in Doncaster so the fact that we can now help them to tap into the GrowthAccelerator programme is great news for business in the area.

“As a GrowthAccelerator Coach, I will work directly with social entrepreneurs to identify the critical steps they need to take to achieve their next phase of growth, rapidly and sustainably.

“After an initial consultation, we will agree a bespoke growth plan – anything from writing a business plan or a financial review, to new business development or leadership and management. We will then work the social entrepreneur and their team through their involvement with GrowthAccelerator to ensure targets are met.”

To be considered for GrowthAccelerator, a business must be registered in the UK and based in England, have fewer than 250 employees and a turnover of less that £40 million.

To become a GrowthAccelerator Coach, Tony had to undergo specific training and provide evidence of his business development capabilities which wasn’t difficult!

Emma Wilson, director of Artistic Spectrum said: “Artistic Spectrum owes its very existence to Tony. He was instrumental in forming the company and advising us about the best legal structure to adopt. Since then he has offered invaluable support on sources of funding, helped us connect with other organisations, arranged publicity and acted as an advocate for our organisation.”

Judith Smith, manager at Re-Read added: “Tony’s on-going support ensures that our plans stay fresh and that we are on track to meet our business objectives. His knowledge and experience is invaluable in helping us problem solve and develop new ideas.  He has an extensive business network and is quick to identify opportunities for clients to work together towards mutual benefit.”
