The Yorkshire & Humber Rural Network, is a partnership between Humber and Wolds Rural Community Council, Rural Action Yorkshire and Involve Yorkshire & Humber.
The Network aims to bring together all voluntary and community organisations that have an interest in rural issues in Yorkshire and the Humber. This will help to raise awareness among support and development organisations and networks whose primary focus is not rural, of the special needs and interests of front line groups working in rural areas.
The Rural Network seeks to strengthen infrastructure and improve the representation of the voluntary and community sector (VCS) in rural areas.
The Network will do this by gathering evidence of the special needs and issues facing front line groups. This evidence will then be used to inform and influence regional organisations, policies and structures and ensure there are effective responses to emerging policy papers and that the voice of the rural VCS is listened to.
The Network works closely in partnership with the sub regional rural networks to consult with front line rural groups about their needs, priorities and concerns and to ensure clear communications between the sub-regional rural networks and the Regional Rural Network.
There is a lead organisation for the Rural Networks in each of the sub-regions:
North Yorkshire – Ryedale Voluntary Action
South Yorkshire – Rural Action Yorkshire
the Humber – Humber and Wolds Rural Community Council
West Yorkshire – Voluntary Action Calderdale
Involve Yorkshire & Humber is organising a series of free workshops - Inside Parliament - to help organisations and communities understand and engage with the parliamentary process. Priority will be given to rural areas. The work shops are being facilitated by the non partisan Parliamentary Outreach Service, which raises awareness of the work and role of Parliament, in partnership with North Yorkshire Rural Voice, RISS, South Yorkshire Rural Network, Rural Partnership Plus, Rural Action Yorkshire and Humber & Wolds Rural Community Council.
