Yorkshire Cancer Network BME Project

MacMillan cancer support logoInvolve Yorkshire & the Humber is working with the Yorkshire Cancer Network on a project to identify barriers to accessing cancer services faced by people from BME communities. The project is called Researching Inequalities in Cancer (BME). It will also seek to develop mechanisms for ensuring that the network can lead service improvements through a better understanding of these barriers and what works in addressing them.Yorkshire Cancer Network Logo

The project will:

  • build the evidence base for the network
  • increase the network's understanding of the barriers faced by people from BME communities when accessing cancer services
  • mean that the network can gain feedback from BME communities to contribute to the development of cancer services on an ongoing basis

The project is led by an advisory group of relevant stakeholders and is funded by Macmillan Cancer Support until winter 2012.
