VCS Learning & Skills Providers

Involve Yorkshire & Humber maintains up to date information on VCS learning and skills providers key learning and skills agencies,  and current issues in VCS learning and skills provision. We also facilitate the Learning and Skills VCS Network (LSVN) to help you make sense of it all!

Further education and skills have a high priority in the coalition government’s plans for promoting economic growth through developing a skilled and flexible workforce. As part of the FE sector, VCS providers are included in the government’s drive for economic growth. The Skills Funding Agency is the body that funds and regulates adult skills provision; the Young Person’s Learning Agency funds provision for people aged 14-19.

Voluntary sector providers can compete with FE colleges for service delivery contracts from the Skills Funding Agency and the Young People’s Learning Agency, and also have the freedom to form themselves into networks and consortia, or into delivery partnerships with colleges and other institutions. National Apprenticeship Service provision is also funded through the Skills Funding Agency. Apprenticeships are set to grow in number and quality, and there are VCS sector specific apprenticeships now available.

In Yorkshire and the Humber there are three sub-regional learning consortia which are made up of VCS Learning and Skills providers:
