Third Sector Trends 2013

On 20 June we launched the 2013 Third Sector Trends Survey across Yorkshire and Humber. This survey will produce robust evidence about the voluntary sector which will be available for organisations to use in their work.

In 2011 we published the first “Third Sector Trends Survey” Now, we want to update the data so we can see what has happened to the voluntary sector in the meantime and understand the impact of trends and changes affecting it.

The aim of producing the Survey is to produce reliable evidence for bids, planning services and demonstrating the contribution of the VCS to the economy and communities.

The Survey will provide robust data about the size, value, activity, volunteering and geographical spread of the voluntary sector for Yorkshire and Humber. This data will support the work of voluntary organisations and provide valuable information for other sectors concerned about their communities.

This evidence will be important in the face of cuts to budgets in all sectors and in the run up to the General Election.

A short update on some of the survey responses so far can be found here

The initial report will be available in autumn of 2013.

The new study is being carried out by Professor Tony Chapman of Durham University. Tony has a long standing involvement in this type of study and has produced “Taking the temperature” about the voluntary sector in the North East.

We will conduct this work through an anonymous online questionnaire, which we want to go to as many voluntary and community organisations of every type as possible. It takes 10-12 minutes to complete.
