Mr Wasti is 77 years old and he started learning ESOL in September 2009. In the last academic year Mr Wasti has achieved a Speaking and Listening qualification at Level 2. Syed Wasti

His ESOL tutor says 'What is remarkable about Mr Wasti is his enthusiasm, commitment and his refusal to allow his age to be a barrier to learning.' He is supportive of his fellow students, has a good sense of humour, and likes to demonstrate yoga techniques.

Mr Wasti says that he enjoys attending the class and doing something that he never had a chance to do before.

Adult Learners' Week Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the life-changing learning done by people in communities all over Yorkshire and Humber, and the central role of the voluntary and community sector in supporting learning.
